<i>Sitemaps are an easy way for Bloggers/Webmasters to inform the Search engines about the Webpages on your Blog/Site so that they crawl them more efficiently. Sitemaps are XML files that contain a list containing URLs for a blog or site along with some extra meta-data(when the page was updated, when the page was created, its update frequency etc.) for each URL in the list. </i><br />

Why to submit Sitemaps to search engines?</h2>

Search engines crawlers discover pages from links within the sites or from other sites containing links of your blog. The crawlers are unable to discover the pages that has no links on your site or anywhere. Creating and submitting the sitemap makes your blog pages discoverable to search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo etc.<br />
Sitemaps are helpful for the Sites/Blogs that are new, having dynamic content, rich AJAX and images.<br />
However adding sitemaps do not assure that your blog pages will definitely get indexed by search engines. But it is something better than nothing...<br />

How to Create a Sitemap?</h2>

Sitemaps are XML files that follow a protocol. The Sitemap protocol consists of XML tags. You can create Sitemaps by a number of <a href="https://code.google.com/p/sitemap-generators/wiki/SitemapGenerators" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Sitemap generators</a>. Some will cost you few bucks or else you can create your sitemap manually if you have a good knowledge about XML(<a href="http://www.sitemaps.org/protocol.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">For a detailed tutorial on creating Sitemaps go here</a>). While creating your sitemap make sure that your Sitemap follow some guidelines by google :<br />

Guidelines for Sitemaps</h3>

<li>A Sitemap file can contain no more than 50,000 URLs and must be no larger than 50MB when uncompressed. If your Sitemap is larger than this, break it into several smaller Sitemaps. These limits help ensure that your web server is not overloaded by serving large files to Google.</li>

<li>If you have more than one Sitemap, you can list them in a <a href="https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/answer.py?answer=71453">Sitemap index file</a> and then submit the Sitemap index file to Google. You don't need to submit each Sitemap file individually.</li>

When you have created your XML Sitemap you just have to upload it in the root directory of your site (example : http://yoursite.com/sitemap.xml).<br />

When your blog will have different urls then your blog's google juice will be diluted. Your blog visitors from a specific country will see your (.blogspot.***) country's url. So, the alexa rank will also get affected (Alexa rank will be distributed among your various Urls. So, how to stop this? Here is one solution...</i><br />

When anyone comes to your .blogspot.com blog google redirects it to the country's url i.e from where your blog is getting visit. This is done by google through 302 redirection. So, what we have to do is to stop the 302 redirection. You can stop it by using some simple scripts. Here is the script that I use:<br />

What should be the size?</h3>

Nearly 70% of internet users have big screen of resolution of either 1024x768(most), 1280x800, or 1280x1024. So, you could select a layout that looks good in big screen with high resolutions but do not forget the rest 30% visitors with small screen and low resolutions. Because every visitor is important. So select a layout that does not have horizontal scroll. Visitors hate to scroll horizontally.<br />

Which alignment to choose?</h3>

As you have seen that most users use big screen. So, in my opinion you should use center aligned layout. Not only it looks great in big screens but also makes your layout more adjustable.<br />

How much columns to choose?</h3>

Choose either a 2 or 3 columns layout. And it would be better if you keep the sidebars on the right because visitors look for menu items and other action items Make sure that your post content is not thinner than the sidebar(s).<br />
